Multiple Attempts

You can specify whether and how your LearnCenters will track multiple attempts. By default, all multiple attempts are tracked, but you have the option to disable this feature. (Changes to LearnCenter behavior when this feature is disabled are discussed below.) The settings you choose here are system-wide and can not be overridden at the LearnCenter level or at the individual course or class level. On the ControlPanel in the root LearnCenter:

1. Click on the Options menu to expand it.
2. Click System.
3. Scroll down if necessary to view the Attempt Options section.

4. Click the Allow Multiple WBT Attempts check box if you want your LearnCenters to permit and track multiple course or class attempts. (Default)
   or
   Clear the check box if you do not want your LearnCenters to permit and track multiple course or class attempts.

5. Select the Use Default check box to indicate that you want LearnCenter to use the default text for the Invalid Completion Expiration Prompt prompt (see next step), and that the prompt text field should be disabled and not editable. The prompt text will display in an Admin's chosen language on this page. The prompt itself displays to Users in their preferred language.
   or
   Clear this check box to indicate you want the prompt text to will be enabled and editable by Admins. The prompt text displays in the chosen language of the Admin viewing the prompt, and Users will see the exact prompt text entered, regardless of their language preference.
6. (Optional) Type a new message in the Invalid Completion Expiration Prompt text box. Use of this message is only valid if you enabled the Multiple Attempts feature in the previous step.
7. Click the Allow Credit Multiple Achievements check box if you want your LearnCenters to permit and track credit multiple achievements.
   or
   Clear the check box if you do not want your LearnCenters to permit and track credit multiple achievements. (Default)
8. Click Save.

Behavioral Changes When Multiple Attempts is Disabled

Certain LearnCenter behaviors change when the Multiple Attempts setting is disabled. These changes are described below.

Course Player

• When starting a course, the page that displays the New Attempt and Preview prompts are not presented. The user moves directly to the first page of the course.
• Only a single attempt is tracked. The course Score is overwritten with each successful completion and the Last Viewed date is overwritten with each attempt.
• This affects all areas where course completions are displayed throughout the LearnCenter, such as the Courses Completed dynamic object, Supervisor and User Actions, and the Online Courses You Have Completed section in the ControlPanel.

Course Selector

If the Multiple Attempts setting is disabled, the Preview button is not presented.

SCORM Table of Contents

If the Multiple Attempts setting is disabled, the Preview button is not presented.

Course Expiration Options

• If the Multiple Attempts setting is disabled, the Course Options panel is deleted from these pages:
• Configuration Options page
• Course/Class Properties page
• New Course page

WBT Completion Expiration Notice to User

If the Multiple Attempts setting is enabled and a user is attempting a course with an absolute expiration date in the past, a warning message is displayed to the user at the start of the course. The warning message states that the user will not receive a valid completion for completing this course and the user is provided the opportunity to continue or exit.

You can use the default Invalid Completion Expiration Prompt described in the steps above, or write one of your own.

When a course has an absolute expiration date, completion records expire for all users on the same calendar date. If a user completes a course after the expiration date, the LearnCenter treats it as an expired completion.
