Registry Editor

Throughout online help, you may notice references to special functionality, features, or settings that you can activate with the assistance of a member of Taleo Learn Support. These are usually done by adding or editing a registry key in the Registry Editor. Since registry keys can have a dramatic affect on your LearnCenter, even in some cases rendering it unusable, registry keys can only be provided by (and sometimes only activated by) a member of Taleo Learn Support.

If a Registry Key is not already functional for your LearnCenter, contact Taleo Learn Support and ask to have it activated. Do not change the values of registry keys without first contacting Taleo Learn Support. Taleo Learn will not support issues brought on by unauthorized changes to the registry.

There are two types of Registry Keys:

System Registry Keys - These are generally system settings governing the LearnCenter and its components. Once set they apply to all LearnCenters, meaning the root LearnCenter and all of its sub LearnCenters. An example of a System Registry Key is the one used to set the location for storing documents (FilePath). The location you determine is the same for all LearnCenters.
LearnCenter Registry Keys - These are generally for settings to customize your LearnCenter functionality and appearance. Once set they apply only to the LearnCenter in which they are set. This is useful for defining certain values that should be different for each LearnCenter. For example, you may want each of your LearnCenters to have different LearnCenter contact information. If a LearnCenter Registry Key is not defined for a sub LearnCenter, then that sub LearnCenter inherits the Registry Key setting used for its parent LearnCenter.

Registry keys consist of the following elements:

Category - Categories are added first and can have multiple keys
Key - Keys refer to the specific functionality you are activating or deactivating.
Type - Type indicates whether the key is set using a Value, Element-Value, or List.
Value - Values are the specific information for that key, such as on or off, text, or a list.

On the ControlPanel:

Click on the Tools menu to expand it.
Click Registry Editor. The Registry Editor opens displaying any registry settings you have already set. If nothing displays on the page, no keys have been altered or set yet.
