Adding New Discount Codes

You can add new discount codes. Discount codes allow you to give one or more Users a discount on one or more purchases.

Access to this functionality is only available if you have been granted the Create Coupon/Discount Codes sub User Permission of Manage eCommerce. See eCommerce User Permissions for instructions on granting and denying this permission.

On the ControlPanel:

Click on the eCommerce menu to expand it.
Click Discount Codes.
Click Add Discount Code.

Type the Internal Description.
Type the End User Description. This is the description Users will see.
Select one of the following for Status:

Active - to activate the discount code. (Default)
Inactive - to make the discount code unavailable.

Select one of the following options to specify Validity:

Click One-Time Use to indicate the User can only use the code once. (Default)
Click By Number of Use to indicate the User can use the code multiple times. When you select this option, a text box displays. Type the number of times the User can use the code in this box.
Click By Amount. When you select this option, a text box displays. Type the dollar value of the discount code in the box.
Click By Date. When you select this option, Start Date and End Date fields display. Click in each field and select the Start and End dates for the discount code.

Type the Discount amount and select one of the following:

% - to indicate the number you typed is a percentage-off discount.
$ - to indicate the number you typed is a fixed monetary discount.

Select one of the following for Discount Detail:

On Overall Purchase - to indicate the discount applies to all items the User purchases.
On Selected Products - to indicate the discount only applies to certain products.

If you selected On Selected Products, the Product List section displays on the page.

Click Create Products to display the Product Selector page.

Select the check boxes next to the products that are eligible for this discount code.
Click Return Selected.

(Optional) Map Users or Groups to the discount code.
Click Save. The system-generated discount code and your description is added to the Discount Codes List section on the Discount Codes page.
